The meteorite was found by the astronomer Tom\u00e1\u0161 Henych near the village Vat\u00edn (~ 49\u00b031&#8217;15.19&#8243;N, 15\u00b058&#8217;13.17&#8243;E, 5 km southeast of \u017d\u010f\u00e1r nad S\u00e1zavou) after only 20 minutes of searching only 19 meters away from Dr. Ji\u0159\u00ed Borovi\u010dka and Dr. Pavel Spurn\u00fd&#8217;s calculated fall location for a meteorite of this weight. The meteoroid&#8217;s largest detonation that produced thousands of smaller fragments happened at an altitude of 36.4 km. It took between 5.5 (for meteorites with a weight of 40 g) and 8 minutes (for meteorites with a weight of 6 g) to fall to the ground at a speed of 30 to 40 m\/s.
